PALAWAN PEACOCK PHEASANT

The lovely Palawan Peacock Pheasant is the most colorful and dramatic of all the peacock pheasants. It is found only on the little island of Palawan in the Philippines, where it inhabits the thick forest at low altitudes.

Forest cutting and destruction combined with trapping is putting the future of this delightful pheasant in jeopardy. Fortunately, numbers in captivity have increased in recent years and several aviculturists have good breeding stock. They are lovely birds to look after and keep.
